I just wanted to comment again and how impressed I am with the speed and operational improvements we are seeing using the new vCenter 4 update 1. The previous Virtual Center 2.5 update 5 was sluggish and many times kept us waiting as the client timed out between tasks. And I had done all sorts of testing to ensure it was not a SQL database or storage performance problem.
So the only change has been going from Server 2003 SP2 32 bit OS that Virtual Center 2.5 was running on (in a virtual machine) to Server 2008 SP1 64 bit Enterprise and vCenter 4 update 1 (in a virtual machine). Of course it does a database upgrade during the install so maybe it is talking to the database in a more optimized way. But you sure are not left waiting for results anymore.
The other important user friendly part is the search feature, so now you can find anything without drilling down into places.
